Playing on DVD player problem

I have just converted a DVD to DIVX using Flask and burned with Easy CD Creator 5. The problem is when i play it back with my DVD Player (Hitachi DVD-Rom GD-2500), the picture seems to get stuck for a second or two and then carry on, the sound doesn't seem to get affected,it just carries on. If i put the same movie in my Burner (Sony CRX140E), it plays ok, with no jerkiness of the picture. I have had other people's DIVX movies to watch and they all play ok on my DVD-Rom.

Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know how to fix it so that it plays ok. A confused newbie.!!!!
