I record movies from the satellite.
Sometimes I try to record like 4 to 6 hours at a time and just cut them properly.
The problem is that vcd cutter does not work when cutting out the part of the long video clip you want when you are trimming it from a huge file.
anybody know how to cure this?

I presume that as you are using VCD cutter you are cutting mpeg1 files. There are quite a few mpeg1 cut/mergers out there for you to try which may be more adequate for you. Having of course files that are extremely long are for many cutters/mergers a problem - if its due to the limitations of the operating system you are using or the software itself I can only speculate.

I use this same style on all my movies.
'
I have a 1.2ghz athlon with 256mb DDR
and a 64mb Radeon
There is not a problem with the video whatsoever.
The problem comes in if say I record a file for like 4 or 5 hours and the file size grows to like 3-4 gbs.
If say I start recording a movie and record it in 2 hours or so VCD cutter does it fine,
But when I see like 2 movies in a row I want on a certain channel I like to set it to record for like 5 hours or so and then just cut the parts of the movie out of the big clip.
Thats where the problem comes in as far as great vcds this Radeon kicks major booty
all I have to do is split the file and burn it it is already VCD ready.
