Background:
Noticed that you can't register the MPEG-2 yet in TMPGenc... and After I got a hold of the first version of TMPGenc wich has no limit in the MPEG-2 I got really irritated that it was in japanese... and my letters looked all f***ed up. It's reallt weird that you can't register TMPGenc yet... but I would'nt anyway.. I refuse to pay money for something like this. Even if skeone would to tell me where I can get the English version It woudl still be an old version without all the bug fixes... so its' really out of the question.
Solution:
I just wanna share how I solved the problem... I use Norton Ghost 2001. I made a ghost of my 8GB System HD before the 30 Days had expired onto my second drive (D and simply put that ghost back on the HD when TMPGenc expires... it's not illegal. I never crack anything. It's just a matter of backing up my System HD. It very fast too...
Of course if you plan to do this... make sure you have all things on you HD which was created or installed AFTER the GHOST was made backed up in some other way before you put the old ghost back on... easy to forget otherwise you'll loose applications or files..

Geez,
what negativity about TMPGenc... This program rules. The problem with registering is ONLY for the MPEG2 encode function. Because there is no free MPEG2 codec available there is a "demo" version included. TMPGenc just offers you the possibilty to test the MPEG2 codec....
There is, by the way, a far easier way to "reset" the 30 day trail. It's just 1 registry key which needs changing..... now registry editing isn't hacking now is it ???

WHy don't u aquire Version 12A
Their is no limit and the mpeg 2 is susposed to be quite good.

Hi everyone.
First let me say this. I know the first beta of TMPGenc had this great MPEG2 Encoder with great quality and no 30 day limit, but the quality the past versions (up till 12g) were missing have been fixed in 12h, plus with every new version things get fixed and improved. So I just take the limit for granted and use the new 12h. (Just my though about the whole "the-old-version-is-better-matter).
Futhermore since my i'm being mailed a bit more than expected, here's how to reset the 30 day limit/counter.
Just start regedit and find the following key :
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{63902277-B101-4049-8B46-C24B67E155E5}
now delete this part completely,
{63902277-B101-4049-8B46-C24B67E155E5}
and the timer is reset.

After you delete that registry set your Windows time to a few years in the future and then open TMPGEnc. Then reset your timer to the present and your TMPGEnc will never expire.

Or just keep the zip file and when it expires just delete the expired tmpge and re unzip it.
