I have a Toshiba SD-M 1402 dvd-rom. It`s really slow for ripping dvd. I want to bye another one, but which one ?
What about Asus DVD-E612 or Creativs PC-DVD Blaster12X ?

Get yourself the Pioneer 106/116 DVD drive, you won't get a better drive for the same price! i've been using mine for the past 7 months and I enjoy every moment of it! I believe the US cost of this drive now days is around 65$, very affordable for a 16x DVD drive.

My DVD ripps most movies at 6x to 8x, but i've had several movies which It ripped at 10x to 12x, I have yet to see a single DVD drive that ripps at its maximum speed, meaning, i've not seen a 6x that ripps at 6x or a 10x that ripps at 10x, but I have seen a 16x that will rip at 10x and 12x, but not at 16x )

I got one at Frys. Don't know who makes it, the box says 12 MAX. It cost 39.99$ (with PowerDVD software and audio cable included !!!)
Is this cheap enough ?

Don't know what you have against Pioneer, although I can understand your Creative point, even I won't buy any of their products now days, they have become worse and worse every year.
But as for Pioneer, I rip Audio at 40x without a glitch of a problem, I rip DVD's from 4x to 12x, and i've got no complaints about any of their drives.
