Hi.

I recently got ATI AIW Radeon 32M SDR PCI. My system is a bit on the old side: AMD K6-2 550, 10G ATA/66 HD, 384M RAM.
Using the media apps that came with the card I am trying to make a vcd-compliant MPEG-1 file, having input come from a VCR over a composite connection. I used the preset VCD capturing mode. But when I start the capture, 10 to 16% of frames are dropped. I have no prior experience with multimedia, and since I do not have too much time to figure things out, I need a little bit of guidance.

Questions: Is my system too slow to capture stuff from video and burn VCDs? Are there any workarounds, that would allow me to do things like this at the current CPU/HD setup? Where would I find descriptions of these workarounds?

thanks a lot.

Op. I have figured it out. Apparently I just did not have DMA enabled for my HD's. Now things are going fine and I am actually looking into using one of those hacks to have a better quality VCD compliant files come out of my AIW.

Thanks anyway.
