Here it is: I have gotten the video off my sony dv camcorder using videowave 4. I have made some vcd's using TMPenc.after reviewing-I want to cut out some scenes that are crappy and join the video back. I have the files saved as mpeg1. I can't figure this out in videowave. I do not want to add sound effects or text or anything. just cut out the fuzzy crap and keep the video in one peice.

Better off going back to AVI to edit. I assume your source files are gone? Look to left for those tools to go back to a editable codec. Editing with MPEG 1 does not work well due to the compression. Same with MP3. Better to edit while in WAV.

I have the source files-thanks-what is a good program to do what i described in my first post. I am really lost to know HOW to edit out the crap and rejoin the files.

Well, this depends on how long the mpeg file is and where these errors happen and how long they last.
You can convert the VCD back into AVI by using the tools found to the left (I have never used one, so I can't help which is the best). Then import into your editor and make your in point at before the error and the out point after the error then cut. Keep in mind about jumpcuts and continuity. So you may want to insert (replace the bad frames) with the good footage from your source AVI. I'm not sure how Videowave works but the concept is the same in any editing environment. I can't go into a tutorial of how to edit here. If the bad footage is brief, say one scene and it doesn't last long, you can probably get away with cutting it out with the TMPGENC then muxing back. Info on that is throughout forums and to the left. Look under edit for that idea. But it's probably better if you fix it in your editor if the problems are numerous this way you can keep a good clean flow. Then when you are done, convert back to VCD.
There are other ways of doing this. But in a short space this is the best I can provide, if I think I understand what you are trying to do.

One more thing.
If you still have the entire AVI source and it is a exact duplicate of the VCD without the fuzzy (Do you mean damaged footage or stuff you don't like?)then you can simply reburn with this. Or use the entire source AVI and cut out what you don't want through your timeline.
If you are new at editing you have to experiment your work habits. SINCE YOU ARE NEW WORK OFF DUPLICATES UNTIL YOU GET THE HANG OF IT IN CASE YOU CAN'T UNDO AN EDIT. This way you don't have to waste time to reimport your footage from the camera.

thanks-moog-i'll follow your advice. something else happened when i looked at the first VCD i made-the time line is backwards-and i am sure i joined the three files together acording to directions in TMPenc. Am I nuts?

That's easy. Just add in the file name the number order you want to put it in. For example
Footage1.mpeg
footage2.mpeg etc this way you know what order you want to put in in mux. It helps by numbering it so you know which end to merge in what order.
