Well, still having problems here:

1.I can now hear the sound, but very low. If I switch to composite or S-Video, the sound level is normal. But no picture.

2. When I try to capture, I get a message like this:
"Virtual Dub Capture Error - Error 424 - Can't open video device"

#2 sounds a lot like what happens if you try to capture more than 240 lines with the overlay enabled. If you're in overlay mode, switch to preview mode by pressing P. (The preview isn't as smooth.)

Regarding #1, are you describing the sound on the captured file or the sound you hear live? If you're describing the live sounds, try a test capture to see if it has the same problems. The recorded sound could be fine, or it could be worse.

tacosalad,

some correction - 240 lines for NTSC.
For PAL VCD, there will be 288 lines.

Mikke,

1.
Try to adjust sound setting in playcenter - sometimes it overrides the Windows settings.
If there still will be no good sound, try to plug your audio to microphone jack and select +20 Db option.
The sound quaility wouldn't be DTS, but it could work for you.

2. This is common problem with PCTV. I set the preview option to off in VirtualDub if I want to grab more than 352x288.

Well I tried preview mode instead of overlay. I cliked on capture video, and my screen turns blue, then I just had to restart my computer(I'm using Windows 9cool.gif.

Sound: Live, since I havent been able to capture anything yet...

Mikke,

Did you tried to switch previw off?
I mean not to set it to preview or to overlay, but switch it off at all (no video could be seen).

I am able to capture more than 352x288 when I switch it off.
