I have a LG IH-E9674 5 disc dvd surround sound system, a buddy of mine gave it to me after it acted up. He said one night he turned it off and the next time he went to use it, it would not read the disk or eject it. I called LG’s service number and everything we tried didn’t work, like holding the power button for 30 seconds with the unit un plugged or holding the eject button. What it is doing is when it powers up and says reading disk it will go to a error message and when I hit eject I can hear it try to open but then I get the disk error again. As far as I can tell there is no manual eject hole on the face. Like I said this unit was free with all the speakers and if I could fix it for not a lot of cash, it may be a nice investment. I would greatly appreciate any advice.

As for your description, there's still a lot of "life" in the player which gives some hope.
I once heard of a player that cracked a disk. Or maybe the disk is very bad positioned.

When you press eject, do you see a slight movement of the tray. As if it tries to open?

If so, I would open the box to see what's wrong. Not much to loose I guess.
Or bring it to a local repair service if you have no experience with this.
