Hello folks
I got some good 5.1 dvd's from which i want to cut scenes and keep on my harddisk for viewving later.Which good software is there out which can cut dvd scenes and save it in good widescreen formats as the originals(.MKV,XVID) etc. I usually observe in certain blogs and forums the videos cut are of good resolution and cut perfectly without loss in quality.I used many cutters available out there but there is loss in resolution due to reencoding and timing is not accurate.
How is TMPEG i heard, can it cut dvd as well as .Dat files ? and convert to native formats.

If all you do is cut scenes from a DVD, then by definition the quality is unchanged. MPEG2Cut, among others can cut. If you cut and reencode, then the result can have just about any quality. Many programs can reencode, depending on the output format. Programs such as XviD4PSP, Handbrake, AVIDemux, among others, can convert to the MKV and XviD you mentioned.

I kind of doubt that, because if it's been reencoded then there's been quality loss. Since most blogs feature video from YouTube and similar sites, then there's been a great loss of quality.
