I'm having a difficult time ripping subtitles with VobSubber in MeGUI. In Vobsubber it shows the available subtitles as:
01 - English
02 - Spanish
03 - English [commentary track]

However in other applications (SubRip, DVDSubEdit, VSRip) it shows it as:
01 - English WS
02 - English LB
03 - Spanish WS
04 - Spanish LB
05 - English WS [commentary]
06 - English LB

I need the commentary files in idx/sub format, but when I tell Vobsubber to rip 03 - English I get Spanish subtitles! My suspicion is that it was actually ripping 03 - Spanish WS. When I rip them with VSRip it gets through ~90% of the file and then tells me it's encrypted, which makes no sense, the original DVD has no encryption. Ripping the subtitles with SubRip or DVDSubEdit work fine, but it's in .sub format and not VobSub. My current solution is to use another program to convert the .sub file from DVDSubEdit to idx/sub format, but it's created a few artifacts in the process. Any solutions?

Most people use VobSub Configure (part of the VobSub package) to get VobSubs.

Did you install VobSub and DVobSub?

Yes.
Now it's telling me I'm missing vobsub.dll.

Check in your Windows->System32. If you don't see it you didn't install everything correctly. Here it is. Unzip it and stick it in the System32 folder:

vobsub.zip

Okay. Now it just makes a "ding" as though an error was popping up, but there is no error.

You're saying it's not working? Then I don't know. I've never heard of anyone at all having any trouble getting VobSub Configure set up and running. I'm on XP SP2, if that makes a difference.

Another way to get the VobSubs is with VSRip.

Ah, of course it needs to be run with administrator privileges!

I ripped it and it appeared to be working, except everytime a subtitle would normally show, it just shows the first subtitle in the stream.

Meaning what? You've got 6 streams and 3 tracks, 2 streams (one WS and one LB) per track. You can select just the one you want by moving the rest of the streams to the left side of that window. And while getting the VobSubs, none of the dialog shows so I don't understand your comment. Although you shouldn't need it, here's a guide:
