Hi I trying to use MKVextractGUI to extract SUb/IDX subs from my MKV videos, and it seemed to be alright, but when i open the .sub file, Aegisub says 'unknown file type', also tried 'subtosrt' software, but it also got problems
anyone knows other program than MKVextractGUI to extract the .sub/.idx files?
http://rapidshare.com/files/286758801/Tokyo_Majin_Gakuen_Kenpuchou.rar.html <- here is the sub and the idx file, in case you want to make sure isn't working

oh, just to say, i want to translate the subs, that's why i need to extract they

thx

.sub/.idx are graphic-based subtitles (as opposed to text), so Aegisub probably doesn't know what to do with them as-is. And the sub>srt converter is probably for the other .sub format (there's a plain text .sub format that's completely different, preceeding it).

I know there's something in the VobSub package that can help OCR the images to text, but I can't remember what it is, offhand.

Yep, you must convert to text subtitles using subresync (included in vobsub) or avidemux.
