I recorded A LOT of video using CamStudio version 2. It will play back in windows media player perfectly and VLC. The problem is when I try to open it up in Quicktime 7.6.4 (the most recent version), all I have is a black screen. It will play for the duration of the video clip but there is no video. I didn't record audio because I am doing voice overs, so please don't worry about that.

I just need to be able to open it in Quicktime so that I can save it as a .mov and edit in Final Cut Pro. For some reason, that won't play .avi files either.

Qiucktime told me that I may need to install some components but didn't say which ones, so I installed Divx and Xvid from their Quicktime component page thinking those were the 2 most common to fix most problems dealing with codecs.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I really need to be able to convert this video soon. Work depends on it.

Install Perian.

Try to open one of the files in VLC, and
Show the Video Info ( cmd I) on the file.
select codec details.
Stream 1 should be your video codec used, toggle the arrow beside
Stream 1 to determine what codec you need.
Repeat for Stream 2 which should be your audio ( Stream 0 is sometimes
audio as well)

post back that info, and we can help further.
