I am not sure what you mean "split". If you want to demux mkv files, there is a long discussion under "demux avi, mkv files".

By split he probably means cutting out certain scenes. And im also trying to find an MKV editor that works. Ive tried some and so far none have worked.

convert mkv to avi, you can split.

check a post "how splitter mkv" in video conversion forum. use tmuxer to split, and mkvmerge to join. I think I will try this weekend.
