Hi there. Very badly wanting a region unlock code for the above player. Have emailed Soniq and they claim it can't be unlocked, which I doubt strongly. If anyone has an unlock code I'll be tremendously grateful!

Why do you doubt this strongly?
1) Most DVD players in the world can't be unlocked. And the situation gets grimmer with each passing day. Hollywood has been very successful in preventing the manufacturing of unlockable players.
2) Specialty players such as portables, combo players (DVD/TV or DVD/VCR) and home theater system players can rarely be unlocked.
3) Manufacturers have been known to change hardware during production and sometimes these changes break hacks that worked in the past. So while it may have possible to unlock the first run of model X that was available, the current production run can't be unlocked and so on.
These reasons are why it's best to be sure a player can be unlocked prior to purchase rather than just buying anything and assuming it can be unlocked.

The player was a gift from my girlfriend, who didn't know about these things. But thanks for the heads-up.
