Hey,

I turned my brand new Samsung dvd-player region free using help from here - then it suddenly turned black and white! First i Thought it was the disc, but the whole logo and everything went black and white.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks,

P

Most new Samsung DVD player CANNOT be made region free. You are very lucky that this worked. Well, lucky if it worked and you can fix the black and white problem.

Black and white issues are often caused by PAL<->NTSC mismatches. Check the video output of your DVD player. If you are sure that your TV is a multistandard TV, set the video output to ANY or MULTI. If that doesn't work, try setting the TV video output to PAL. If you cannot change the video output, you will probably not be able to fix the problem.

It would have been good for you to tell us if the DVD that is in black and white is a DVD from a region besides region 2 and if it's an NTSC DVD.

hey - sorry for the lack of knowledge, I'll see if I can find what I need:

the dvd-player is a region 2 (sweden and europe - i guess) and the dvd-record is a region 1 - cannot get anymore info about the disc since i don't have the case for it.

i tried a region 2 dvd and that worked fine - everything turned colour.

i also searched the forum and found an answer (for another samsung model though) that if you have an old tv, that could be the case. mine is sorta ready for the dump...

do you think this could be it? when i get a new tv, i'll be able to live fully in technicolor land again?!

Thanks for your help so far - i REALLY appreciate it!
