How to add .sub/.idx to avi?

I know this question has been asked a million times.

I followed the instructions in this guide but it only shows me how to add the subtitles and doesn't show how to select different subtitle track. There are 3 different languages in my .sub file English, Chinese and Japanese. I want to select Japanese subs but in the preview it only shows default English subs.

How do I select a different subtitle track according to that guide?

Use VobSubStrip to first get only the language you want and then follow the guide with the Japanese IDX/SUB file:

Another way is to edit the IDX to make the Japanese one the default:
