I just bought a Sony SR-47 camcorder, and did some test recordings on it. When I brought it over to FCP (6.0) it didn't bring over the audio. Do I have to put everything through Streamclip in order to make it bring over the audio? Or is there something on the cam I can change in order for the audio to be there?

Hi, You have two options.

A) Demux stream in Mpeg Streamclip or similar convert ac3 audio to wav, aiff or somthing more editable, import the separated streams in final cut and put together in secuence, the mpeg2 video will be recode depends setings of your secuence.

B) Use the Log and Tranfer option menu in FCP that make all the job for you.

Regards and good luck.
Guillermo.

Interestingly enough, I copied the .m2v files to my drive, then ran it through Streamclip into a .dv stream...and the quality of the dv stream looks better than the .m2v file...any ideas why?

M2V = mpeg2 = 9Mbits

DV = DV = 25Mbits

take your conclutions

whenever QT DV is better than DV raw stream (my opinion)

Regards
