Hello
Im taking a movie and cutting him about 1 minute in order to put subtitles initially and later I want to join him then I am cutting it at virtualdub as direct stream copy
than past the subtitles , saving as - full processing mode
than im doing conversation so it won't get too much mb at the compression.
and than i want to join it so i define at the conversation app
the same video codec, video size. framerate,
and of course the same audio codec , audio bitrate , sample rate. audio channel
same as the original file.
and in some reason it wont let me join the files and every time yells : the video files have diffrent date formats
y it's happening and how do i solve it?
10x always

nice program! thank you
but as i see there is still problem.
when i dragged the 2 avi files into the avidemux, and clicked yes in the asking windows
about the automatic coding the frames, audio and stuff.
and in the and clicked file - save
the video is jumping somehow and not playing it correct
why is that?

Because Avidemux is garbage, full of various bugs.
I suggest you try again with VirtualDub. I never heard of "different date formats," are you sure that's what it was?

Wait, you say you editted your clip with Virtualdub and then saved to a new file using full processing mode -- with which codec?

What compression was it before you converted to Huffy AVI?
With the newer Virtualdub, you can use Smart Render so as to not have to re-encode the whole clip. You don't have to save as clips. You can now exact frame edit (edit out exactly where you want instead of at key frames) and Smart Render instead of saving each segment and joining afterwards.
Oh, and AviDemux is not garbage. It will join a lot of clips that Virtualdub refuses to and does a few things that Virtualdub will not. That said, Virtualdub is my editor of choice but I do use AviDemux for certain tasks.

1.8.8/1.9.2 experimental (May 08, 2009) is the latest version of Virtualdub.

Then using Smart Render with the XviD codec set at unrestricted and a target quantizer of 2.00 is your best option. Just cut out the parts that you don't want and Smart Render the video and Direct Stream Copy the audio.
I'm using Virtualdub 1.9.2 (build 31953/release)
