NOT ME!!!!
My wife just brought home an almost full stack(50 pack) of Verbatim -Rs
that a co-worker had given her....to give to me. He says he is burning
coasters with them.

I told her....to tell him....that if he is burning coasters with these...he
has something else wrong with his setup.

What do I buy for general purpose backups when I don't feel like using up
my stack of Taiyo Yudens?....the same exact discs.

Poor Mike....he has shit for luck when it comes to computer related stuff.

taiyo yuden value line for backups? i wouldn't use them for an only copy but maybe for seconds.

i still use mostly verbatims. -r or +r in the 100 packs, still haven't had a bad batch after 20 or so... i use t.y. for printable dvd-r.

I archive to a select stock on PVC 4x, TY DVD+R or MCC -R 4x/8x.
I burn dupes to Verbatim or TY -R (but never shiny fingerprint-magnet discs)

Verbatim does play badly with some devices -- TY can be the same (I have devices that do this -- the discs are fine).

Tell "poor Mike" to understand it's not the discs, its his drive. But not to fret, it happens to the best of us!!! He needs to find discs that work, and I suggest he hunt down Sony MIJ/MIT (not MIM) or TY. On the other hand, if these were Verb -R, tell him to try Verb +R, as it can make a difference!!

Nice to see you around hech, I know I haven't been active at "the other place" for a couple of months now. cool.gif

I'm still spending most of my time arranging footage from various sources for friends of mine and
most of it involves this nightmare:

i was suggesting them as a cheaper alternative to taiyo's "premium line" for backups.

Yeah, I saw that --- welcome to the world of video voodoo. I've done stuff like that before, just not that exact issue.
