Hi,

I currently have a Vosonic VP6230, bought this one because it has a CF & SD memorycardslot, 80GB Harddisk & it can play MP3.

So I use it to empty my mediacards, and I like the all in one solution as a harddisk MP3 player also.
On holiday, compact listening to music, and in the evening backup for RAW pictures & movies.

But this model has some sort of strange fault (yes have the last firmware) i you copy a map with the same name to another one with the same name, if you choose overwrite, it first delete the map completely and then puts the other map in place. So it's not like on a pc, you lose all the files in the original map.
Also the screen is not so great and a pity it cannot play .mts files.

I have a few questions :
1> Does there exist any other brand that makes harddisk mp3 or video players with CF & SD slot that play RAW pictures?
I looked for the last model on the site VP8870 but it's about the same, only bigger screen.
2> Is there any portable harddisk player with storage cardslots that can play .mts files ?

I really think I got to the limit of portable multimedia harddisk players. I think if I want to play .mts files in combination with bigger screen and harddisk, I will have to buy a mini or EEE PC, correct? Here are 2 big problems: it's not so compact as an mp3 player, battery only 2hrs (12hrs for Vosonic).

Aren't there really any other brands? I looked at IRiver, Archos, ... but found nothing yet.
Maybe someone can find a big test, but I don't know where to start to look.

They are called multimedia harddisk players or imagetanks that can play mp3,... so much different names, it's a special segment of the market.
Also with harddisk they cost sometimes €400, for this price you can buy a less compact mini-pc...

If there only exist such players with bigger screen, that cannot play mts, I would consider testing another brand, this one is user-friendly, but can be better...

Thanks, for any usefull info,
Cheers,
