Can someone help please? In the past, I have recorded DVD data discs with avi files on them & they play back fine on my 2 DVD players.
Now I am burning 720p HI-DEF DATA D/L discs and they play fine on my PC...but of course not on my current DVD players. Will they play on any BluRay player.....not sure what to look for or buy. I hope someone can help. Many thanks. artmcclin

If you use avchd it should play on most bluray players including the ps3.

But as jagabo mentioned a media player that connects to a harddrive might be a more attractive option to you. No discs needed. Just transfer the compatible file and your all set to go.

There's also mod firmware for the WDTV that supports external USB DVD drives (not for movie DVD, just for UDF/ISO data).

It is unlikely artmcclin is downloading AVCHD files.

I don't suppose you'd care to post a link to that, would you? Because I saw you talk about this in another thread today too. I spent a little time going through the time consuming AVS Forums and all they are talking about recently is the wireless mod firmware.

Here, I think: http://b-rad.cc/wdtv-firmware-dvd-enabled (I don't have a WD TV, just going by what I've read).
