Hello, I was wondering if any of you could help me out with a little problem im having. So im using MAKEMKV to rip and convert my dvd of the Conqueror of Shambala to a MKV, I read the guide on how to use the program and i have used it before correctly. However this time it says that it completed the task correctly but when i try to open the MKV all i get is a black screen. It says that its currently playing but the little progress bar on the bottom doesnt move at all.

When i was picking what to include in the mkv i chose the subtitles and both the higher aac japanese and english audio formats. I noticed that there was two main video files around the same size of around 4 gb's. The difference between them was one said video angle 1 and the other said video angle 2.

If anyone could let me know what im doing wrong i would be grateful.

What is the video codec in the mkv? it could be vc-1 and you then probably need a vc-1 decoder. Identify using mediainfo.

Or makemkv may not support all blu-rays. Then you must use something else like tonmt or tsmuxer and make a single ts from the blu-ray, remux it to a mkv using mkvtoolnix.

i used Media info and it says that the codec isnt that vlc1 thing you mentioned its actually a mpeg2. I'll post the results so you can take a look at it.

One more thing, i noticed that if i make any of the smaller files on the dvd into a mkv it works out great but for some reason only the main title doesnt come out correctly.
Mpeg2 is DVD you need a DVD decoder (MPEG2 splitter) and Why would you use MakeMKV it doesn't compress the contents of dvd just bundles it in an .MKV file. USE Mencoder, MeGUI to compress your dvd to a smaller size (700Mb) after you decrypt it. MeGUI doesn't I don't think, actually I never tried I just use dvd shrink and anydvd.
