Hi,

I've received a DVD for an instructional video. Aside from the first minute, the right audio channel has nothing on it (muted) but the left audio channel is OK. Is there an easy way to copy the left audio channel to the right channel? I'd prefer it in DVD format, but I'd consider an MP4 video format as well.

The basic process is to

1. Demux the audio from the DVD (DGIndex)
2. Convert the audio to WAV (HeadAche or similar) or load it into the latest beta version of Audacity with the appropriate ffmpeg plugin
3. Copy the good channel over the bad
4. Encode back to AC3 (assuming that is what is was)
5. Re-author the original video and new audio with muxman to create new VOBs
6. Replace the old VOBs with the new ones using VOBBlanker.

of course, if you aren't wedded to the old menu structure you could always just author a new disc.

Is there an easier way to do with as an MP4 instead?

Use steps 1-3 above then import VOB(s) and the new external 2-ch stereo .wav source file in AviDemux..Choose mp4 as output format..

No.

No matter what you do you will have to demux & replace the muted audio channel.
