For anyone interested, the new and completely free Comodo Internet Security Suite (beta) is available for download at www.softpedia.com

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Security-Related/COMODO-Int ... rity.shtml

I've been running it on XP Home Edition for about two hours and have experienced no problems to this point with boot-up or Internet surfing using IE 7.

The GUI is clean and well organized.
I have had very few pop-ups from the firewall.
A full antivirus scan took slightly over eleven minutes to scan 4.56 gb.
Also installed was the Ask Toolbar with Comodo's "Safesurf" technology.

As of now I am running no other software with real-time scanning so I can't speak to the possibility of conflict with another resident scanner running concurrently with CISS.
Overall I am, to this point, fairly impressed.

Please keep in mind that this is beta software and should not be installed on your main or primary hard drive unless you have a verified complete system image or clone.

I've been running it on my laptop for a couple weeks and since I installed it, I've been having problems when I hot plug/unplug my wireless mouse. I haven't taken the time to verify that it's Comodo that's actually causing the problem, but the timing would seem to point to it. Other than that it seems to be doing the job. It detected and cleaned out the pseudo-virus files that I use to test with. The only complaint I've had so far is that the options for scheduling updates don't allow me to set it the way I want.

Edit: My bad. I'm not using the full suite, just the firewall and Anti-Virus/Malware. I'll have to check into the full suite to see what it includes that I don't already have.

Comodo's firewall is excellent though it can cause a fair bit of annoyance until you get use to the little things you have to do with it from time to time. I've always heard their AV was subpar compared to many others on the market.

I use the Comodo firewall on several computers, though I have noticed a odd problem with it randomly disconnecting my wireless signal from my laptop. Since it's random, I haven't traced down the cause yet. sad.gif

But it has blocked quite a few problems and it also alerts you when one of your programs wants to 'phone home'. Still, highly recommended. smile.gif

EDIT: I didn't exactly find the cause of the random wireless disconnects with Comodo, but I uninstalled, then reinstalled it and one of the many initial popups from the program was apparently asking about my wireless setup and I made the right selection this time. No more disconnects now. I guess before I ignored one the the many popups the program has when you first use it. redface.gif But I still like the program better than the other software firewalls I have used. Especially with Vista. smile.gif

I use the stable version.
Personally I don't like *.beta versions.
