I have a DPX i730 Scott portable dvd player. It has an USB slot, but when i put a USB Memory stick into the slot it does not recognize it. What to do !
Please Help.

Most USB flash drives are formated as FAT 32. You can plug yours into a computer and check it's formating by R clicking on the drive icon and check the format in 'Properties'. It may require formating in FAT 16, or less likely, NTFS format. Does the indicator light on the drive show when it's plugged in?

The memory stick doesnt light up when i put it in the slot.
The file system for the stick is just FAT.

I formated the USB stick to FAT 32 , but the dvd player still doesnt recognize it.
What to do ?

You have switched to USB mode with the system stopped, haven't you ?

Yes.
I forgot to mention that i have smaller USB stick 256MB, which does work.It is formated Fat16.
I dont get it why the smaller one works and the bigger one doesnt.

Some devices have limits on what they can read. I know some older cameras cannot address the full capacity of the newer, larger memory cards. Perhaps yours has a similar limit.
