Issues with quality when ripping to network to play via Xbox 360 or PS3

First off I am not new to DVD ripping and backing up to DVD's seem to have nailed that, but I have traveled down the path of streaming to media centers, and I am getting frustrated.

I have decided to take all my DVD's and put them on my NAS so I can stream them to my Xbox 360 or my PS3, I am having issues converting files to the right quality and I can not figure out what I am doing incorrectly. I have gone through several guides on the site and I can not seem to replicate the quality of the .avi files I currently have downloaded, so I thought I would post on here hoping to find some guidance.

Now I have no issue removing the encryption on any of the DVD, I can also convert the files with the many tools available on this site and on the web, it is just I can't seem to nail the process to obtain the quality after converting the file to an avi, divx, mp4, etc...

So what I hoping someone on here can assist me with is to determine what tools and/or steps I need to take to achieve the quality on my DVD files in order to have the stream at that quality to my PS3 or 360; to my HD television which is capable of 1080p, and is about 55 inch widescreen.

Here is the example that I pulled off one of the avi files using AVIcodec that I have obtained via download, and I am happy with the quality of this file but if there is a better quality achieved that can keep the file around 1 to 1.5 gb for each of the DVD movie files I would be ok with that as well.

Try AutoGK.

If you want to use VirtualDubMod, rip your DVDs in IFO mode and just extract the main movie as a single VOB file.

I'm surprised you couldn't open your iso with DVDFab...And BTW you can use the Generic .avi/h.264 audiocopy profile,however I'd recommend using the Xbox or PS3 profile instead...
Having said that, you don't need to create iso first,just rip as jagabo suggested, and use XviD4PSP ... In the event you've already ripped to several .vob's it'll index and create an.d2v that you can then open..try it...
I prefer .mp4,but if you must then output an xvid .avi.... However if streaming,I'd recommend the xbox360/PS3 Format instead.... Good luck!

I can't believe ripping to an .ifo then using AutoGK was that simple, and gave me the exact quality I was looking for thank you so much; much easier to use then VirtualDubMod.
