DVD-ram 2.8GB discs rip trouble

Hi all!
I'm trying to help out a friend with his small Sony DVD-R (ram I think) 2.8GB discs that have been recorded with a videocamera. I can clearly see that there have been written data onto the discs (they are double sided discs). However, when I try to open or play them in my computer nothing shows up (looks like an empty disc).

I tried a DVD-Ram player/recorder in my PC aswell as InCD and Isopuzzle. Nothing comes up.

My friend told me he had seen the footage on his videocamera, but it didn't work in his DVD player.

I'd like to somehow open the discs and copy the files over to my PC (winxp) to make some new "standard" DVDs for him instead.

Does anyone know what I can do to read these discs?

Sounds as if the discs were not finialized.
try putting the discs back in the unit and finialize them
