Okay, I need some help.

I cannot get through the install procedure. It keeps telling me

This installation was not successful.

##Password:
Sorry, try again.
Password:
sudo: 1 incorrect password attempt

I have changed my admin password to just letters (no blanks), so that is not the problem. My hard drive and admin account names have no blanks in them, they are just a single word.

I have read through the forums and have not found anything else to help me.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

The install procedure seems to think that you entered an incorrect password.

- Passwords are case-sensitive. Make sure Caps-Lock is off. ('ABC' is not 'abc'.) It wouldn't be the first time...
- Password must match the username: Log in with an account with admin privs and use the corresponding password in the installer. It won't work if you log in with plain user account A and enter the password of admin account B.
- Keep it simple (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and avoid special characters (*!/:\?üéî etcetera). You may change the password again after installation, so there is no need to complicate things during installation by using a weird password. 'qwerty' is as good as any.
- On Mac OS X, accounts have two names: the 'Name' and the 'Short Name'. The short name is the actual name of the account, and always consists of safe characters (see the Users folder). The long name allows for spaces and such, and is actually just an alias for the short name. So, the account name itself should never be a problem.

If none of the above applies to your situation, you could try creating a new account with admin privs, and use that account. That would avoid any unknown issues with the former account.
