16GB Flash Drive not registering (fat32)

I just recently got a 16 gb usb 2.0 flashdrive, but it's not registering as 16 gb. Should i format the drive to ntfs? What can i do?

before you go and do something drastic, what size is showing up if you right click on it's icon and select properties?

Its showing up as 16gb, but only holding like a few megabytes of information............

make sure so hidden folders is turned on. if nothing else shows up, go ahead and re-format but i'd stay with fat32 as lots of devices can't read ntfs as it's mostly just a microsoft format.

After a failed attempt at trying to convert this drive to ntfs, i now got a message that it cant be read, because it is corrupted or unreadable....a friend told me to use gparted, but i don't understand that program, is their anything i can use?

If Windows itself can't read/format it, then it is likely just faulty. Especially since you mentioned it was only partially working to begin with, which indicates Windows could see it, but not all of it.
