How to prep cam for tape brand change....

I had bought my HV30, and had to film a live show in a hurry, I usually use the Sony Premiums, but couldn't find them.
The only ones I could find where these cheap JVC mini-dv. So I used those 1st. I just bought 50 Sony tapes online, and I know they say not to change tapes because of the chemicals on the tape. Can I just run a head cleaner in the cam? Or is there more I need to do?
