I am playing analog 16/9 (with black bars above and below) on a 16/9 TV with ffdshow
How can I tell ffdshow to zoom the picture in vertical direction to make the black bars disappear?
Whatever i do they do not disappear.
Or can I use another DSHOW MPEG2 decoder that can do the vertical zoom?

If the file is 16:9 and had borders then the video is wider than 16:9. The only way to make it fill the screen is to either stretch it so everything is tall and thin, or crop off the edges until you get a 16:9 AR. if you play back footage that is wider than 16:9 then the decoder or the Tv will put the bars in anyway to make it fit sensibly.
So what is the true AR of the footage you have ?
FFDShow has a range of tools, from simply cropping to resizing and aspect ratio adjustments. However you have to understand what your source is before you can determine what you have to change.

MediaPlayer Classic (which works through ffdshow) press numeric key '9' and that will increment zoom,
to reset to native aspect press '5'
