There's tons of programs for capturing streaming video out there, but can someone suggest something to capture streaming audio, and edit it? Perhaps to an mp3 file.

I've recently moved, and would like to capture a couple of radio shows I liked in the past.

Thanks!

Hal

I use MP3DirectCut. It will capture any signal that comes into your sound card. You can then select and cut out unwanted sections. You can also set gains of selected portions. I also use this program to capture old analog tapes. Once you've recorded the tape, you can to a "save split" and it will save the individual tracks. When you save the files, they are saved as MP3 files.

It's a great little program and it's free.

I'd expect they can also just save audio. Check them out.

Otherwise:

Audacity can save anything you're listening to, and then edit and save -- very flexible and powerful.
MP3DirectCut can record to MP3 and edit MP3 losslessly (to cut out ads, etc).
And Audioflash is a simple app that can record directly to MP3.

Thank you very much for the help. I forgot I actually HAD MP3DirectCut! Ha! Just needed LAME and it all fell together.

Now, if I can just figure out a way to start the program automatically, and turn off automatically at set times.... THEN I'll be in business!!!

Thanks!

For about twenty bucks you can get TotalRecorder, it can start and stop with a timer and is custom built for streaming audio. Free demo.

Total Recorder has worked great. The timer function does exactly what I wanted it to do. Thanks a lot!
