Hi, I have a problem in creating an Apple TV (or Quicktime for that matter) compatible encode from a Blu-ray disk.
I use meGUI and have no problems in creating a nice .mp4 video file with appropriate audio - the files play fine with VLC. But Quicktime won't play them (and I can't import them into iTunes to serve up to Apple TV). The error Quicktime gives is "bad public movie atom". I use the PD-AppleTV profile in meGUI but it still won't work. Ive heard people saying you need to use a 'tagger' on the encoded .mp4 file - I've tried this but it doesnt make any difference. I use Vista and have all the relevant Vista and Quicktime updates installed. I also transfered the encoded .mp4 file to my Mac but Quicktime wouldnt play the .mp4 file either.
I'm guessing that I probably need to check or set some other options within meGUI but don't really know where to start. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
One thing I do know is that it's not the audio as that plays fine as an audio stream (no video) in Quicktime so it must be related to the video somehow.
Any help is most appreciated.
Update 28th April 08: I've been searching about and it seems that many people are having problems trying to create an h.264 encode using meGUI that will play back on Quicktime or AppleTV - I havnt come across a solution yet - which is frustrating. The meGUI profiles for Quicktime / AppleTV / iPhone / iPod (the latest ones from Sharktooth) simply do not work (for playback on QT or AppleTV) but they work fine when played on Windows via VLC or Media Player Classic.

Update 30/04/08: I've found the issue - I was using DGMPGDec with meGUI and all of the BDs I'm trying to encode are AVC - so - after I switched to DGAVCDec everything started working. Now I can happily get my encodes to work with Quicktime and AppleTV. I'm a bit of a newbie to all this and so it was just my general ignorance that caused my issues.

This is exactly the problem I've been having. I converted I Am Legend using meGUI and it plays fine in VLC but I get the bad public atom message in Quicktime.
I'm kinda new at this so I'm not really sure where DGAVCDec fits into the picture. Could anybody elaborate on this? I've tried looking all over the place for a solution but this is the closest thing I've found to what is happening to me.
