We had a PS3 and had to return it. We now have many Blueray movies. We were given a HD player.
I have read about the AVCHD content stored on DVD that will play in a Blueray player. Is there anyway to take our Blueray movies, pull the movie off, then burn them onto DVD using the AVCHD format so we can play them on our HD player?
I hope I asked this correctly.
Thanks

How will you rip your Blu-Ray movies?

I was thinking I would by a Blueray ROM for my PC. Here locally I can get one for as little as $130. Players are still around $400.

You're going to have problems in converting BD to HD-DVD.
Native fps is likely to be a major problem, and burning the content will be another.
Why the hell were you given a HD player???

Try using mediacoder.
Rip the files to HD.
import the TS file of the movie into mediacoder.
the output needs to be 1280X720p to fit on a DVD with good picture quality. Set fps to be 29.97.
Then create a folder structure like the one on HD-DVDs.
See if it works.
I am not giving details, because there is a lot of minor steps that I don't have for you. But that is the besic process you need. The big problem is that no one is developing for that since HD-DVD lost the war. everything is only going FROM HD-DVD to BR.
