I made a movie through Adobe Premiere a while back and have the following question---it is now VOB files on a DVD. I need to make it into a file that I can e-mail to a potential employer and have them open and view it---any suggestions?

Most E-mail attachments are limited to much less than 50MB, usually <10MB, so any conversion you do will look terrible. I'd convert the video to Xvid with AutoGK, then upload the AVI to Vimeo.com, which will make a very high quality "youtube" style video that they can watch. Just send them the link

That is a VERY odd requirement for you to email them a file. Unless your video is very short, you run the risk that your file will be too large to email or it will be blocked by the recipient as possibly being spam as a lot of spam filters limit attachments. Take a segment of the film, say 5 minutes, and convert it to another format. You could reduce the resolution and use MPEG-1 at low bit rates (352x340 at 2000 Kbps or less). Everyone should be able to play MPEG-1 with no problem. You could also convert to Flash or QuickTime with the understanding that these might be problems on some non-PC and non-Mac machines. Again, note that larger file sizes may be blocked, so even 5 minutes may be too big to email and you may need to cut it down to 1 minute. Anyone who would ask you to email a file to them without any further instructions is an idiot - keep that in mind.

Just read Soopafresh's suggestion and I like it better than mine.
