All players cannot be made region free. Also, some manufacturers change the firmware on existing player models and that can break hacks that used to work. You may be out of luck here. It's best to do your homework and decide on a player that you are sure can be easily changed to region free mode prior to buying it, rather than buying first and hoping for the best.

If there is a known hack, you will find it in the DVD Hacks section. Otherwise, jman98 summed it up pretty well above.

I just bought this model Coby TF-DVD7377.
I tried using hack code given in the videohelp site but didn't work.
Anyone knows if the firmware got upgraded or something...how to hack it now.

You may be out of luck, sam7777. It's getting almost impossible these days to find players in the USA and Canada that can be made region free. Hollywood has convinced just about everybody to stop making such players. Hacks that used to work in the past may not work now due to changes that manufacturers have made at the request of Hollywood.

There are several DVD backup programs that will remove the region codes from a copied DVD. This is often a better way to go about playing DVD's with differing region codes. At least if you don't have a large number of them.
