Do you use multiple monitors on your computer?

So do you use more than one monitor on your computer?

I'm not a heavy home computer user most of the time so I stick with one monitor. However if I were doing more work on it I could see the benefit of it.

Sometimes - mainly for preview video. I use a studio CRT monitor connected to the S-video output of my nVidia 7600GS.

I use multiple monitors on one computer (LCD + HDTV) and multiple computers on my other LCD monitor (KVM switch).

PS: Usually there's a laptop on the desk as well.

Dual monitor for 5+ years. Can't go back to just one screen. It really increases productivity on apps that have a ton of side menus (almost all Adobe apps).

I've been wanting quad monitors. I assume I'll need two dual head video cards.
I would love to cut the excess plastic off the sides and put them together so only a little seam is visible between screens. I've seen such a setup on "the situation room" on CNN.

Anyone know where to find info on how to do this?
Maybe some tutorial videos, what kind of monitor is best?

i'm still waiting for large screen 16x9's i can rotate 90 degrees for a more paper like size display. it would need to be in the 40 inch diagonal range and designed to be that way so the sides are symmetrical and the labeling isn't sideways. i'd stack 2 - 22"s vertically if there wasn't the big trim issue like anubis's.

I use dual monitors at work. It helps out when I am remotely working on different servers, working in Active Directory and trying to type an email in Outlook at the same time.

At home, I have an old 17 inch CRT monitor that is the only display that I use. I have been considering a switch to LCD monitors. I know it will free up some more desk space.

I've only got one monitor between four computers and the connecting lead on that is dodgy* so there's only a 50/50 chance of it working each time a PC is swapped!

*The VGA lead is permanently attached to the monitor so I can't even swap it for a more reliable one.

Main computer= 2 CRT 19" monitors and a 19" TV monitor, normally, can be switched to the 56" HD flat screen when needed.
Secondary puter= 2 CRT 17" and a 12" TV monitor.
Laptop= 17" widescreen and 15" TV monitor.
Need the extra room for the menus in Adobe software, Renderman, etc.

I use two 15" LCDs at work. It's really nice for net surfing to be able to keep two pages open. I have one running off the video card DVI output and the other VGA. I used a cheap dual head VGA card for a while till I realized I could do the same with a monitor that had both VGA and DVI inputs. One thing I like is the second monitor doesn't have the task bar, so it's not in the way, but is available on the first monitor when you want it.

It's also nice to be able to drag things from one monitor to the other. An interesting tip for Netzero free users that have the ads taking up on-screen space; you can drag the browser to the second monitor and have a full screen browser again.

Two 19" Widescreen Monitors on my PC. I find them EXTREMELY useful with anything adobe-related. Photoshop is SWEET if you have the extra space.
Surfing is greatly improved if you are able to keep 2 browser windows open at the same time, the same for remote management, you keep your pc and the other one up at the same time.
The advantages are great but once you have two you get greedy and now I want four!!!

Anyone knows about a good game that you can use with multiple monitors?

No, although I often wish I did. But my desk was designed with only one monitor in mind as the monitor sits low in the desk (yes in, not on).

Edit: I do use a KVM switch to allow 4 computers to share it though.

I use multiple computers on my monitor

I have a 22 Inch dell monitor with analog vga and digital dvi inputs, I've connected one computer to each input and I switch between them with the apropiate key in the monitor. By the way, I like very much this monitor, it has a very good image quality.

dual monitors at work = NICE!!
I have a 21" CRT on my home PC, it's good enough for the stuff I do on that machine.
the HTPC has a 17 or 19 inch CRT and is connected to the 36" HDTV via DVI>HDMI. Does that count as dual monitor?

I have one monitor shared between two computers. That will have to do until I can buy a litre of super-VGA and paint a display on the wall.

Local computer outlets in Cleveland sell used 18' CRT monitors for $40 USD and used 19' LCD for around $85 USD. If your video card has two heads it's really not that expensive to add a second monitor. The benefits you get with increased productivity pays for itself.

Almost all Sound, video and graphic editing apps are much easier and faster to use on two monitors. Using two apps that use dynamic linking at the same time (After effects & Encore, Sound forge & Acid) is super fast when you have on on each screen.

I don't really need it for work or play, but I have done it a few times. It is slightly easier than toggeling between pages and larger than tiling pages on one screen. I have tried it doing video editing but I don't really have the equipment or software to take full advantage of that. But for me, using two screens while working with CAD is the way to go! I am sure that if your work was comparing text documents or such, dual monitors would be great for that as well.
