Sometimes when I want to run some clips in reverse or high speed in iMovie, all I get is a pixellated mess. I'm using .avi files; is that what's causing it? IIs there some other format they should be in?

Please read this thread.
Does any of the conditions apply to your .avi file,
such as codec used ( .mp4) or location stored ( external drive)?
