Hello Everyone,

I Have Some Questions.,.,., Hope U Masters In Computers Help Me.,.,..I Have A Ton Of avi files.,.,i want to convert it into VCD.,.,,i use Cucusoft avi to vcd converter.,.,but i noticed that i am loosing a gud amount of quality.,.,.,..,.,.in the same way.,.,i use vcdgear for converting .dat files into vcd and i was amazed how qucik it converted without any quality loss.,.,.can anyone suggest a gud s/w to convert avi to vcd?? plzzz.,.,.,.,.,help me,.,.,.,.

1st, VCDGear is only un-wrapping the MPEG form the DAT track, it's not doing any re-encoding. You're left with (nearly) a copy of the original MPEG used in the authoring app. (I say nearly, because (S)VCDs use MODE2 so there could be some data errors).

Re-encoding will almost ALWAYS cause noticeable degradation.

Going AVI->MPEG is re-encoding.

Now, there are better and worse ways to re-encode. I strongly recommend that you use a high quality MPEG1 encoder for this work (TMPGEnc, Mainconcept, CCE, bbMPEG).
Of course, GIGO, so I can't say you'll get great output, as I don't know where your source came from, etc.

Go to the link you provided in your post, click on Downloads at the top of the page and then click on TMPGEnc version 2.524 which is in blue. If that doesn't work, something is wrong with your browser or PC. That link definitely works.

Please don't post in ALL CAPS. I'm cutting you a break since your new, but posting in all caps doesn't make us want to help you. In fact, I usually don't help people who do that.

AVI -> VCD burn Tools:
VirtualDub (freeware) + perhaps additional CODEC such as VFW
TMPGEnc v2.54x (freeware)
VCDGear (freeware)
burnatonce (BAO) (freeware)

BASIC DIRECTIONS for VCD creation from AVI source file :

Load the source AVI into VirtualDub;
Change [audio options] to FULL PROCESSING and [conversion] to 44100. Save as .WAV
Elapsed time for me 10min

Open TMPGEnc;
[LOAD] the VideoCD (NTSC).mcf template (DO NOT LOAD THE film template)
BROWSE for the video source
BROWSE for the audio.wav file extracted using VirtualDub
BROWSE for where you want to stick the output .mpg file
Elapsed time for me 1.5hrs

At this point, if you have a MPEG burner the file should burn.

Else :

Open VCDGear;
select [VIDEO-CD] and choose MPEG -> TOC/BIN from the EXTRACTION/CONVERSION dropdown list
Elapsed time about 10min.

Open burnatonce and load TOC file from VCDGear.
Elapsed time about 10min.

A source filesize larger than one VCD disc can be split at several points.
VideoHelp.com has rather excellent guides for AVI->VCD.
