Has anyone encountered the issue of using WinDVD 8 Platinum or version 7 or 6 and having the "video desktop" feature grayed out/disabled?

my system specs: WinXp, Pentium M 2GHz, 1GB ram, intel 915GM chipset with onboard graphics.

The video desktop feature for WinDVD 6 works on my other machine: WinXP, AMD Athlon XP 2800+, 1GB ram, Radeon 9500 Pro AGP.

*Note: VLC media player (latest version) also has the "video desktop" feature and that works on my Pentium M machine mentioned above.

Anyone else have this "video desktop" feature disabled/grayed out in WinDVD 8/7/6?

Thanks for any responses.

Look (in WinDVD) for a video set up option with a name like 'Overlay' or 'acceleration' or 'renderer'. For desktop mode to work, some form of overlay rendering must be active. You might also run 'dxdiag' and see if there's a directX problem.

Thanks. I tried that. There was a "hardware acceleration" option in the "video" section of the setup/configuration of WinDVD 8, however, it did not enable the video desktop feature. DirectX 9c diagnosis reported no problems, and all Windows video acceleration and overlays are turned on as far as I know. VLC Media Player has the video desktop feature as well, and it is not giving me any issues with that. Everything in WinDVD 8 works, except for that one feature! I'm just scratching my head as to why that one option is disabled. Thanks for the suggestion though.
