There is nothing in the manual for the recorder on this button other than a layout of the remote that says it is for inserting chapter marks during recording.
While recording I pushed the button where I want a new chapter to start but there was no visual indication that it did anything. After finishing the recording (before finalizing) I went to the Edit and there was no chapters other than the one main one.
Can you create chapters with this button? Or what is it really supposed to do?
Thanks !

It only works with RAM discs, or maybe RW in VR mode. You can set the recorder to make chapters at 5, 10, 15 minutes on RW and R.

When I went back into the "Edit Menu" while playing the recorded dvd it does look like it created chapters using the "CHP Divide" button during recording.
Next question.... can you rename chapters using the recorder or should I try editing the chapter names on the computer?

I can on the D-R4, but someone else here said the R5 doesn't do it. On the R4, you go into easy navi and select play, then quick menu and select create thumbnail.
