hello there
i want to encode my avi and mpg files to vcd so nero will not encode them itself...
i don't know what to do because every program i tried encode it in a lower quality and i want to know if there a program that can just encode my files to vcd format and that's it.
nero is always encoding and it encodes to a very bad quality.
please help me, i tried everything, i just want to view my video files in my tv at the same quality as the original video files with the quickest encoding to vcd format.
can someone please help? really, i don't know what else to do sad.gif

Cant be done. vcd is a low bitrate, low resolution format. See What is VCD (top left corner) for specs. I you want to preserve the quality you currently have, either convert to DVD, or get a dvd player that also plays divx/xvid avis

If they were avi, they were re-encoded. Or they were not VCD.

That's impossible. Avi is not VCD, so if it was VCD then it was encoded to MPEG1.

Maybe Nero just made a data CD (not VCD) and copied your files to it. That might work if your player groks AVI and raw MPEG.

remultiplex the mpgs in TMPGEnc
File-MPEG TOOLS-MULTIPLEX-select type as MPEG 1 Video CD
If the mpgs are otherwise vcd compatible, the above procedure will prevent Nero from reencoding those mpgs.

Best way to prevent Nero from reencoding is not to use Nero at all. Use VCDEasy to author. (Encode ??? to VCD mpg with TMPGEnc first.)
