I'm looking for a DVD player that can decode DivX and XviD files (preferably also h.264, but not necessary) and is capable of upconverting to 1080i over component. I have a Power Mac G4 connected to my only HDMI input and do not want to have to switch cables every time I switch sources.

I'm looking for the XviD/DivX compatibility because my G4's humble CPU isn't quite powerful enough to decode 1080i HD and I have some DivX/XviD-encoded files, HD resolution, that I'd like to be a able to watch in their full splendor. So this actually also means it'd need to be able to upscale or otherwise output DivX/XviD files at HD resolutions.

Anyone know of a player that can do this? It sounds like an awful lot, I don't know if a standalone unit exists that can handle it. Might have to haul my G5 into the living room if I want to do HD.

These might do some of what you want. Study them carefully first since they aren't cheap.
