I really liked the screen that was rented for me last weekend to show a video at a wedding. It appears to have two configurations: tripod or table top. Possibly three is to hang it from the wall. Panovision? I think I have their web site address. Likely some ridiculous price. Any comments in general? I believe the above was 7'. 5' may be enough.

Ask the rental company for the model number. Maybe they will sell a used one cheap.

A decent video screen is not cheap. My HDTV screen is about 5 ft X 8 ft and cost about $320US. It's from DaLite. Not cheap, but very good quality. http://www.da-lite.com/
With that much investment, you need to search around a little for the best price. A video screen is not the same as an old Super 8 film screen. Electric is very nice, but the manual screens are OK if you use one with a regulated return. Mine does not have that and you have to be careful when rolling it up. If you were to let go of the rollup cord, it could damage the screen. The electric and the regulated return make it easier for other family members to roll up the screen without possibility of damage.
I've had mine for about 4 years and it's great. Having a 5 X 8 foot screen 18 feet away from my couch makes a great home video setup, along with my surround sound system.

I wish I could ask the rental equipment, but people who rented it for me are thousands or miles away and won't be available for 3 more weeks. However, I can wait.
I think my old S8 screen is a da-plite. I've had it a very, very long time. It's a bit worn now, but still standing. Yep, $320 is a lot; however, it may be time to jump there. I'm using a video projector, and probably will have to use the projector fairly close to the screen. I'm pretty sure my 5' by x' screen needs to be about 8' from the screen to fill it. That's pretty close.

I've actually reverted back to the old bed sheet for my screen. Frankly the screen I bought used is just too damn huge for the room I'm using it in. The tripod mount sticks it out two feet more from my tv cabinet. The tv cabinet itself is about two feet off the wall. So the huge screen is sitting right on top of you! Just putting the white bedsheet over my tv cabinet is a whole lot easier than muscling in that screen.
Now I only spent $10 on that screen so I'm not out big money by not using it. But I think someday I might get a lighter weight retractable screen. I won't look into a fixed mountable type because I don't want to do anything that would be permanent.
But for the time being the bed sheet works just fine. I just have to make sure I fold it neatly and run it through the dryer once in awhile to limit the wrinkles on it.
