I currently use PocketDivxEncoder to convert Mpeg-2.ts video files to AVI/Divx and play them on my Archos Av530 PMP without ever having any problems.
(The Mpeg-2.ts files were recorded originally on a Humax PVR digibox and then downloaded onto the PC)
I am contemplating buying a Topfield 5800 PVR digibox, which i believe records in Mpeg-2.rec video files.
Before i buy a Topfield, I need to know whether PocketDivxEncoder will actually accept and convert .rec files (from the topfield) so that i will be able to play them on my Archos Av530 PMP.
I have searched the web site for PocketDivxEncoder but it does not state what files it will accept and convert.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have never completely understood the term "rename".
Does "rename" involve re-encoding them to another file format in this case from .rec files to .mpg files?
I take it "rename" does not mean right click on the video file select "rename" and type in a different name?
(AFAIK the Topfield PVR always records in .rec files you can't change them with the PVR itself)
