So do you have an arcade machine at home? Is it an antique like pong or something newer??
Do you have game room equipment like a pool table or a dart board?
--- I don't have any of those toys..... I have lots of other tech toys though

Play all the arcade games on M.A.M.E. with Portriat Monitor on PC.
Target, Walmart, and Toy'rus sell a hand held unit that you can play many original arcade games on TV. This one has Pacman, Rally-X, Dig-Dug, Galaxian and Bosco.

Ever seen a MAME machine? Grab yourself a computer or XBOX, and then custom make an arcade-like shell, complete with the cherry buttons and arcade sticks. You need some advanced computers skills, and a bit of carpentry skills, but it makes for a nice project.
The system boots directly into the MAME interface, and then you use the joysticks to select games, and then play them.
There are guides and sites for this kind of thing online.

I have in my bedroom Donkey Kong, Jungle Hunt, Asteroids and Missle Command! Yes, FULL Size. Don't get to play them a whole lot but they sure do bring back some memories! Still want to get Space Invaders and Galaga

None (yet), but Double Dragon is one I would be keen to buy. The Atari 520ST version sucked ass IMHO but it's hard to go past the arcade version.

No arcade games but I have a few old pinball machines instead (old = before ´76 and the introduction of electronics in the pinball world).

MAME rocks. I would love one of those new cabinets that does lots of classic games in one, but until I can afford one, I'll stick with MAME.

No, but I wish I had one of these:

I wonder if this also does vector scan graphics, which is a must for Tempest. I have also seen a full size traditional arcade controller that had ALL the controls (edit: hey...it was one of those SlickSticks), that works with the atari PC games. It was about $350. I've also played lots of Fooz Ball at friends' homes, which is definately an honorable mention.

That's a good point. Emulator like MAME must have a vector to raster emulation to do Tempest, battle zone, Asteriod, etc..
Vector Graphics was Tektronix adaption of storage tube CRT from test equipment to graphics application. The model 4006 and 4014 are the well known standards. They even guest star in movie/TV series like Battlestar Galactica.

that slickstick site is awesome. That looks like the way to go if you are serious about your arcade games. Building a Mame back-end you could have any arcade game you wanted right there. I also loved the arcade double dragon games..i think i'll go fire mame back up and try them out...
i personally would rather have an arcade board for the controls and a projector to have the game on a 10' screen on the wall .

www.arcadecontrols.com is a forum of many of us arcade nuts building a home arcade cabinet for MAME. My cabinet is about 50% complete right now. But even just playing the games on the arcade control panel is a blast!

Too bad HS is selling it, everything they sell is at least twice what it should cost.

I'd imagine it does a bitmapped emulation. I believe that's what MAME does as well as some PC-based emulations of Tempest and other games. They are indistinguishable from the original.
@EVERYONE-
Anybody know where you can get a trackball and dual paddles for the PC?

The storage CRT's vector graphics is very unique. The lines are formed with lines with two brighter dots at the ends. The raster rmulation do | |
