do you want IR or RF? Do you want to do anything 'tricky' or just the regular volume/play/pause etc etc.

If you are running MCE, you will need a MCE certified video card and it should come with a remote control, or have it as an option from the card manufacturer. Microsoft doesn't want you to build a MCE system, they want you to buy it complete, so they are not much help.
Personally, I would pass on the MCE OS and just use XP.

If by this you mean 'capture card' then yes...there "should" to be mce drivers for it, but since MCE is basically xp sp2 you can get older cap cards to work as well. Personally, I love the MCE interface, and have tried them all before settling on it. Well, maybe not all, but most of the popular ones, including free/trial versions of paid for. If you are fine with IR, just get the MCE remote for approx 35$ from pcalchemy.com.

Try the Logitech Harmony 520.
Computer set up capable. Controls pretty much everything there is.
At walmart for $98.00 not a bad buy.
I have one and I love it. However I dont use it for MCE.
Good luck.

Not sure what the Harmony 520 is capable of, but if it does not interface with the PC via IR recieiver/transmitter than it won't help you any.
