I just got my water proof dvd today i printed a dvd took it from the printer wet my finger and ran it across the dvd and guess whjat happened? NOTHING!! It work it feels the the dvd absorbs the moister from my finger. im going to wait for a hour or so put it in water and show you all the results. Now i know you all are saying yeah but whats the media code well here it is This stuff works great i may be saying goodbye to my TY dvd-r
Only bad thing so far is they are a tad bit more money and you only get 45 disks $45.00 plus whichever shipping you choose

I couldnt wait so i put the dvd under a faucet for a second then wiped it off very little ink came off and i do mean very little if you look at the dvd up close live you can see something happend in the area i got wet but remember i only let it sit for several minutes this is damn good pictures below the one on the right is after i put it in water

Ill wait several hours and try the water test again but they are extremely water resistant sorry for the lo res picture

Try a smaller region of the disk with higher resolution. (Like the face of the geisha or the "pumpkin" lite.)

Thanks for the info, ultraman36! The waterproof (or water resistance) part is nice; but realistically I don't think anyone is going to take the disc and dunk it in water or hold it under a running faucet on a everyday basis... But the fact that some moisture doesn't hurt the print is very nice to know.

What I am more interested to find out though, is that the product description claims the printable surfact makes the image "pops" more because of the treatment. Is it true?

(And what's the print area size? Same as regular Fujifilm or? Compare to TY?)

When i look at the image i print it does look better but as to how much each person is going to have to judge for themselves what i printed looks brighter when im holding different ones together but it not so noticable that it makes me go wooww. As far as the print area size im waiting for my epson r200 to come with my Canon Ip4000 the inner diam., is about 22ish and the outside diam looks to be about 119 but the ip only goes to 118 so i do have a small white ring on the outside diam when using the cd print softeware

If you're using Pixma to print, and the disc size is larger than 118, just enlarge your image slightly outside of the perimeter and you'll get around the white ring issue. It's annoying, but it's the only solution I know.

If you can do an actual measurement when you get a chance, I'd appreciate it very much.

I guess I may have to get myself a batch and see the print quality for myself -- I use mostly TY and IP4000, and I always think the print is a tad "light" -- never as vivid as the original even though I tweak it as much as I can in Photoshop...

Ok maybe i need to explain the reason im excited about the waterproof/smear and smudge res., dvds. They arent for taking them into the tub and bathing with them(way to kinky for me lol) they are for other people who handle my dvds without much care for those friends who put their wet hands after drinking and then smudging my dvd. i dont like looking at my collection and when i go to put it in the dvd player seeing a finger print on the dvd .

Do they Float? I always hate searching under the bubble bath for the disks when I drop them laugh.gif

Really though, Water proof is nice for some people! Got a portable DVD player for the kids, got a boat?
I've seen kids leave a DVD on a car seat with the window down and it rains, or they jump in the car and sit on the disk! Yuck, wet pants on printed disk, what a thought cry.gif

Not everyone is as carefull with thier collection of disks. That's why for some friends I only use the cheapest generics disks like my old Princo 2x from a few years ago! Good way to get rid of those old disks and I know they will only last a few weeks or months anyway, not quality problems with disks, but the way they are not cared for. And for those people I never gave a printed disk!
Heck, I think the jacket cover is a strip of paper with DVD scribled on it, doesn't matter what DVD the case is for, once they take it out it the disk will rarely see the inside of the case again anyway.

This is really cool. The only thing that has been drawing me back from selling cds of my music with epson printing is the fact that the discs are so easily ruined by the slightest contact with water.

I'm very curious how the heck this disc works cause I thought treating the discs after they were printed was the only way to fix ink on them. Hopefully it will be a matter of time before all companies make blank media like this.

Hey mrtunes the quality of the print comes out much better than the other dvd ive used printing pictures/images on these disks is a very noticable difference. When i touch the top of the disk its very smooth if i wet my finger and rub it across the disk i can feel the dsik absorb the moisture from my finger. I dont know how it works but it does. Only bad thing is they arent cheap. I dont remember how much the cds are but they cost $1.00 each($45.00 for 45 disk batch)

Yeah they are darn expensive, so much to the point that i'd almost going to a place that has a big thermal machine instead of doing the CDs myself. You said that Imation makes them too, I could only find a blank media on their site that just protects against scratches on the recordable side, not smudges like the tuffcoat aqua guards. Do you have any info on Imation's discs?

i dont think so i think they will be the same i think the primera are just repackaged imation brand
