Now, I'm leaning towards FCP (studio). Will I need a Mac? I want to just get a really good system to work with.

Final Cut only runs on a mac .... http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/

like i said -- $20,000 on up (though without all the extras like dual cinema displays and external storage - you could come in under 10,000$ ....

if you want to do HD -- double these prices ...

I'm going into this as a career. I am starting now, but I've been editing for a while I just don't know anything about systems.

What kind of specs am I going to want for an above-average system?
