Finding the average frame in a video

I am trying to find the average frame in a video...by finding the average value of each pixel...but the result is not yet satisfactory....any ideas ?

i am trying to do background subtraction from a video...so first I have to create a bitmap of the background....to get this bitmap I was putting the pixel average of the whole video but as I said before...I am not satisfied by the result...
